What are Jaw Fractures?

Jaw Fracture Treatment Methods

• Closed Reduction: Used for simple non-displaced fractures, where the jaw is fixed using wires connecting upper and lower teeth for 4-6 weeks until fracture healing. This method is suitable for stable fractures that don't require surgical intervention.

• Open Reduction: Surgical procedure where broken bones are exposed and fixed directly using small metal plates and screws. This method allows rapid recovery and early function restoration compared to traditional methods.

• Conservative Treatment: For very simple fractures that don't affect teeth occlusion or jaw function, where painkillers, antibiotics are prescribed, and soft diet is followed with periodic follow-up to ensure proper healing.

• Reconstructive Surgery: In complex cases or when there is bone tissue loss, bone grafts or bone substitute materials may be used to compensate for missing parts and properly reconstruct the jaw.
